5 Months of silence

I have not posted anything on my Tumblr for 5 (seemingly long long) months. That’s not to say that I haven’t kept up with blogs or Tumblr or Twitter or any other social network; it just merely goes to show that when one finally gets a job…it can eat away at your free time.

It is a new year and with each new year comes a new sense of beginning and possibilities. We have all set our goals before us and some goals have already drowned in a sticky mess of unrealistic despair, while others play the course quietly. To evoke real change, I am a firm believer that you must want that change to the very core of your soul and must be ready to meet every obstacle and advancement with the same strength and smiling face.

I hope to continue this exercise in blogging and enlighten, not only myself, but readers and followers on our journey through life and the internet.

Stick with me….2012 will be a year of change and a renewal of hope.

This is far and away one of my favorite rom-coms.

Of course, it doesn’t exist on DVD, but bite your thumbs at Warner Bros, because you can find it…and that’s why the internet was created.

It’s no My Man Godfrey, but it’s hard to top William Powell.

Carole Lombard is comedic gold and this movie doesn’t feel dated in the least.

I won’t pretend to have great ownership of words describing music; I can describe with words like “that sure is neat,” “that’s a hoot of a song,” “slap my grandpappy,” etc. But to describe Not the 1s requires the poetic phrase of a classically trained music critic: I have such a huge crush on Not the 1s.

From the moment I found their Kickstarter page, I knew that Fate had dealt me a winning hand. But I still erred on the side of caution and only sent in a few dimes and nickels. Then Fate came back with a one-two-punch on Altered Zones with the premiere of You Dress Like An Asshole. It quickly became apparent to me that I had to go further and invest not just dimes and nickels, but quarters and half-dollars, even one of those gold Sacagawea coins, into the coffer of Not the 1s.

Life was good and I spread the word and sound around like glitter. But my story doesn’t end in the past-tense, no sir. The progress of the project stalled a bit on Kickstarter. I was a ball nerves, spamming every Facebook wall and Tweeter shitting on a daily basis…this project had to get funded. If not for Not the 1s artistic gains, then it must happen for my own selfish wants.

Finally, on the cusp of the third song premiere, Not the 1s reached it’s 100% mark. I squealed like the girl I am.

Here’s the good news for you fine folks, you still have 8 days to back Not the 1s and get some of the best rewards around. What could be better than a color vinyl LP and a bad rap mix tape? NOTHING (we all cheer in unison). If you have extra cash flow, get yourself a t-shirt and be a beast on your street, corner, or spaceship. Plus, according to project profile update - any extra money will be spent on making a video. A VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF A SONG! I know you are as excited as I am.

There are songs about cities & states and they become the assigned anthems of those places.

New York has Sinatra, Joel, Jay-Z.

Chicago has Sinatra and Sufjan.

California has The Mamas & The Papas, Beach Boys, etc etc.

Texas has country singers.

You see where I’m going with this; but this song IS the song for California. How could it not be? It should be the state song, because let’s face it, this song is amazing.
